  9. In the 2020 election, Joe Biden defeated Donald Trump 306-232 in the Electoral College and had a 4-point margin in the popular vote. After that election, some Americans were so distrusting of the results that they started the “stop the steal” campaign - claiming, without evidence, that the election had been stolen. After every court in the country threw out any and all claims that the election was stolen, on January 6, 2020, Americans who disputed the election results violently stormed the capitol to try to stop the election results from being counted. Why do you think things will be different in the 2024 election?

  10. Almost 10% of Americans say they trust an AI chatbot to tell them the correct results of the election. Explain to those people what you think of their trust in AI.

Write and Discuss

Take ten minutes to write about the question at the top of the page and then discuss with your classmates.

Act on your Learning

If you will be 18 years old by election day and are an eligible voter go online and register to vote. It will take less than 2 minutes. In most states it’s not too late. If you are not 18 find someone who is 18 and convince them to vote the way you would vote if you could. If you can’t convince them with logic, ask them really nicely. If that doesn’t work, beg them to vote.

Get Creative

The presidential election is on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, but the next president will not be sworn into office until Monday, January 20, 2025. Write a short description of what waiting for the voting results and the time between election and inaguration will be like.
