Mass Movements

Definition

A large body of people interested in a common issue, idea, or concern that is of continuing significance and who are willing to take action. Movements seek to change attitudes or institutions, not just politics. Major U.S. mass movements of the recent history include the civil rights movement, women’s rights movement, LGBTQ+ right movement, Reproductive rights movement (pro-life and pro-choice) Disabilities rights movement, Environmental justice movement, Black Lives Matter Movement, Me Too movement. Also known as social movements, or movements.
